Literature Text

Looking at the shelves of books, Arthur Kirkland found a familiar looking girl in the library. It was (Name), a girl from his class. They talked to each other once in a while, and ate together sometimes, too.

"Hello, Miss (Last Name)," he greeted as he approached her. Unfortunately for him, they were still on formal terms.

(Name) clutched her notebook close to her and smiled. "Hi, Mister Kirkland. How are you?"

"I'm alright, thank you for asking. I'm just looking for a good book. And I'm guessing that you're looking for one too?"

She laughed a bit before trying to reach up to get one, barely touching the book's spine. "Yes, I am."

Arthur noticed her difficulty since she was shorter than him and the shelf. Since he was such a gentleman, he reached up with little efforts and got the book for her. "Is this the one?"

(Name) nodded and thanked him in return. He noticed she wasn't giving any eye contact and there was a slight tint of pink on her cheeks, which brought him to look at her at her eye level.

"Are you okay, love?"

(Name) immediately backed up, looking around for an answer. "U-um… I, uh… W-well, I …"

"Your face is burning, Miss (Last Name). Would you like me to bring you home?"

(Name)'s mind blacked out before shoving the things in her hands into his chest and running away.

"M-miss (Name)!?" She was already out the door. Arthur sighed. Was he repulsive or something? Look, he knew his eyebrows weren't the best, but could it really drive someone away? Was it because of his "tsundere"-ness as Kiku called it? Or was it because he can talk to magic creatures?"

He blushed at the thought of her. She was such a cute bookworm, always writing in the notebook in his hands. Arthur checked out the book for (Name).

Once again, Arthur sighed. It was a shame they didn't talk often.

He walked back to his house, thinking about how he was going to approach her with her journal. (Name) didnt allow anyone to read through it. Not even her best friends, Alfred Jones and that dumbass –

"Well, if it isn't Arthur!"

He growled at the sound of the voice. "What do you want, Francis?"

"What? I have some news for you."

He rolled his eyes. "Like I'd give a damn, you idiot."

Francis laughed and flipped his hair. "Oh, I think you will. You see, it has to do with (Name)."

As much as he hated it, Arthur stopped walking as his ears perked up.

Francis laughed. "See? I knew you'd listen~"

Arthur blushed in embarrassment. "L-look, I'm j-just making sure you're not spreading a stupid r-rumor about Miss (Last Name). N-not that I care or anything… you idiot."

"Of course not; she's my friend. Anyway, I was able to get a hold of her notebook, and I found something interesting! It said something about "being in love with Arthur" or something." He smirked at the sight of Arthur's face.

"Oh, really? Why don't you show me some proof?"

"I have it right in my bag, Iggy~ I'll show it to you on one condition."

"What would that be?" Arthur asked with a smirk.

"Admit to me that you're in love with (Name), then I'll give it to you."

He stared at the French man and lifted the (Name)'s notebook, which was tucked under his arm with the library book. Arthur smirked. "I'm surprised you didn't notice I had this the entire time."

Francis grumbled to himself as he watched the British man walk off.

*~*~*~*~*

Even after that, Arthur couldn't help but be so curious about what Francis said about the notebook. While reading a book at his desk, he found himself tapping the notebook's cover lightly with his left hand.

"N-no, Arthur, this is (Name)'s notebook, not yours. I-it's … it's not your property. Francis is just a bastard who wants to mess with minds," he muttered to himself, shaking his head and trying to focus in his book, but failing.

The only thing stuck in his head was that notebook on his desk. He sighed in defeat as picked it up.

"Okay, only one look. Afterwards, you forget everything you saw."

He opened it, seeing its contents. Arthur saw things like sketches, short thoughts, and rants.

Arthur couldn't help but chuckled at it. It could almost be considered a diary. He even saw that sometimes, she hated Francis as well. He turned the pages and saw where the most recent page break was, and carefully let everything sink in.

He couldn't tell if he should regret reading it or be absolutely shocked.

I see him almost every day, and yet I still can't talk to him correctly. Almost every time, I would stutter or even run away when he comes too close to me. I can't even call him by his first name. We're still on formal terms, and it pains me to think that I just don't have enough courage.

Sure we do talk and eat together, but I'm usually around Alfred and Francis. He doesn't seem to know much about me but how much I read.

And yet I know so much about him.

I know that he gets flustered when his soft side comes up (Kiku called it "tsundere") and how he can talk to magic creatures (at least that's what he told me). He can't cook ir swim well, he has a sharp tongue, and he loves craftsmanship and embroidery.

But he doesn't know how much I'm in love with him. Not that I'll ever gain the courage to really say that.

He could feel his heart break in two. She was deeply in love with this person, wasn't she. This man wasn't him, and it tore him apart.

Sure, (Name) wasn't his yet, but its been yeasts since he fell in love with her.

Arthur, unfortunately, didnt notice that while he was stuck in his thoughts, he picked up a pen and wrote what he thought of his dear (Name).

When he finally noticed, he realized how much trouble he was in. "D-damn, what's (Name) going to think!?"

He, then, rethought it again. Arthur sighed with a tint of pink on his cheeks.

Just leave it there

*~*~*~*

(Name) was walking around the school early that morning. She lost her notebook yesterday, and she was getting really worried.

"(Name)!"

She turned around to see Alfred and Francis coming her way as she waved at them.

"Dude, (Name), have you seen Arthur? He's at the gates, and he's pacing around like a mad man!"

"What?" She was obviously confused.

"What he means is that little Iggy over there is getting worried over something. He might be confessing his undying love for you." He looked at her in a specific way.

She laughed. "Very funny, Francis."

He chuckled along with (Name) and Alfred. "That's right. There's no way!"

"(N-name)?"

They all turned around and saw Arthur. Francis and Alfred whispered to each other and disappeared into a nearby classroom, stressing (Name) out a little.

"Good morning, love," he greeted politely.

"G-g-good morning, Mister Kirkland." She mentally scolded herself for stuttering again.

He smiled at the petite girl. "Please, (Name), call me Arthur."

"Eh?" Did he just call her by her first name? "O-okay… so… Arthur, then?"

He nodded. "Yup. And I'll call you (Name). Anyways, I have your notebook and that book you wanted. You left it in the library yesterday. I hope you don't mind if I had it." Arthur pulled them out of his bag and held it out for her.

"I-it's fine." She gladly took them and hugged them to her chest. "W-well, see you in class, okay?"

"Alright, until then, love." Arthur flashed one more smile to (Name) before walking away.

She saw him turn around a corner before finally ending the fight and letting the blush flood her have. Francis and Alfred came out of the classroom.

"Geez, (Name), your face is so —"

"D-don't say it, Jones."

"It's red, (Name)."

Her blush increased at Francis's remark. Quickly, she hit his head with the book, but he laughed it right off as she gave him a pout.

"W-what do I do!? He didn't read it, did he!?" (Name) said frantically.

"Calm down, dude! I'm sure Arthur wouldn't do something like that. And if he did, I'm sure me or Frenchy over here will take good care of him."

She smiled at Alfred's way of comfort. "It's fine." She opened it, seeing how everything was in perfect shape. But then Francis noticed how she looked so confused with her eyebrows furrowing.

"(Name)? What is it?"

As fast as she could, she closed the notebook. "Nothing! I'm perfectly fine. I'm gonna head out for a sec." They couldn't reply to her when she dashed outside. Tired, she sat down on a bench. It was still early, so not many people were there. (Name) opened the notebook once again and read over something.

I can't hold it in anymore. I can't help it; I'm quite envious of this person. Your love for them is strong, and I need to tell you that I'm truly I love with you , (Name).

You've been so close to me, and I know I've been captured by your beauty. But I feel as if I'm a part of a dirty joke that Cupid decided to play on me: Making me fall in love with someone I had no chance with. Every time I see you, I just want to look deep into your eyes and get lost in them, but there's no way I can do that at this point. I understand if you don't feel the same way, so I'll back off.

"(Name)!"

She noticed Arthur running her way and he stopped in front of her, out of breath in nervousness.

"Mis– A-Arthur?"

He looked down, noticing (Name)'s page, as a blush formed on his cheeks. "D-did you…"

She just smiled and nodded as she stood up.

"I'm sorry, (Name). I wrote in there without your permission, and I wrote something weird. And right after I had second thoughts, too…" He looked at her, trying to find the right words to say. "I-I know I'm not the one you're in love with, but… can you give me a chance?"

For a second, she just looked at hem before giggling a bit.

"W-what!?"

"You do know…" She pointed to her entry. "This person is you."

Arthur couldn't process what she said as she whipped out a pencil and wrote something inside for him to see.

I love you

"When you think of it, Arthur, I didn't actually write your name in here, did I?" (Name) pondered out loud.

"O-of course I knew it was me, you–you git! I was making sure, t-that's all."

(Name) smiled, seeing that tsundere side again and knowing he understood. He gave an embarrassed smile back, squeezing her hand gently in his as they headed to class.

*~*~*~*

"Oh, there you are (Na)– Iggy!?" Francis cried when the two entered the classroom with their fingers laced together. "W-why are you two–!?"

"W-well, Francis," (Name) stuttered. "I-it's—"

"It's very simple, Frenchy."

She was surprised as she looked at him only to realized that Arthur planned that and gave her a quick peck on the lips, shocking the French man even more.

"I love (Name)."

(Name) giggled at his little bragging as her face donned a smile again. "I love him."

"Way to go, Iggy! Finally got the girl, huh?" Alfred laughed.

"S-SHUT UP, YOU GIT!"
Yup! Sorry for the wait! I've been really busy with my other things. I've been trying to focus on thisv and I dedicated about three hours yesterday on this. I write it on paper before I do it online.

So who's next? France or America?
